Taylor Wins WGSTM Finale and CHAMPIONSHIP

When it comes to looking back on the 2011 White Gate Services Thunder Modifieds season for East Coast Thunder it will be known as Todd Taylor’s year. Taylor dominated the Bill’s Auto Repair 150 at Thompson International Speedway on Sunday by holding off Modified veterans Bobby Ambroceo and second place point man Jim Windrow for the victory in the late stages of the event. Taylor, in his brother’s #83 car thanked his family in the Winner’s Circle for and credited pit strategy in taking home the victory.

The Bill’s Auto Repair 150 feature lots of action and excitement as eighteen drivers saw the green flag. Thirteen yellow flags slowed the event for sixty laps while the full distance of the 150-laps too just one hour, twenty two minutes to complete. The race came down to a one lap dash with Ambroceo spinning his tires on the final green flag start. Danny Savary got the jump on Windrow on the inside but could not hold the line, relegating the #21 to fourth. Jeff Rogers held down the final top five spot coming out of Turn Four but had contact with Bruce Phalin, sending Rogers into the wall and Phalin to the top five.

Taylor will take away the White Gate Services Thunder Modifieds Championship with seven victories over twelve events. Windrow will finish in second with Savary, Ambroceo and Thompson pole-sitter Cori Bibbus completing the top five in the standings.
