In what could be described as a fantastic showcase of super-speedway racing, the Retirement Race for MRL Racing was run this past Friday at the Talladega SuperSpeedway. With twenty-eight of the top drivers from across the sim community creating many well choreographed two-and-three wide moves, the goal to grab the final checkered flag in MRL Racing history was a tall task. With a tight point battle looming large, the drivers of Southern Racing Online pulled into Texas for their two-step on the 1.5-mile oval on Sunday. With the SRO Cup Division being contested with three times the regular pit wear under a fixed setup, the 84-lap affair was set to be a historic tilt on the Fort Worth track. Josh Moyers and Dave Snyder started on the front row and each would take turns leading during the event as the two led for twenty-eight of the completed laps. In what was described by some as a rough and tumble at times event at the Talladega Super Speedway for East Coast Thunder, it was John Docman of Olathe, KS taking the checkers first in the 9th Annual Helloween 500. Between six lead changes and two yellow flags, Justin Wilson drove his #6 Taco Bell Ford F-Series truck straight to victory lane in the MRLRacing.com SS Series race at Ontario Motor Speedway. Wilson beat out Jim Black and Paul McCollum to take the checkered flag, despite leading the most laps.
