Larkin Cruises to Victory at California

In a ultra competitive event which saw only four cautions and lots of door-to-door racing it was MRL Racing veteran Mikey Larkin taking the victory in the Price Motorsports 150 at the California Speedway. The veteran driver from Ontario, Canada out dueled the best in the Monday Night Super Speedway Series for the win in event number two of the season.John Higman Jr. brought his #60 Price Motorsports ride home into second after early contact with a teammate sent him scrambling from the rear of the field. Andy Colleran finished in third with the strong trucks of Justin Wilson and Ron Larkin Jr. nipping at his bumper in the top five. A late yellow with just over twenty-five laps remaining set up a fuel strategy game for the ages. The six drivers in the lead draft took to pit road with five to go, leaving Jeff Eden in command of the field. Eden, who had pitted under the final caution looked to be in control of the event until contact from teammate Walt Werner sent the #91 Price Motorsports entry spinning into the infield grass. Larkin, who just took a splash and go on pit road ended up winning the event after the last lap pass. The Honda sponsored ride of Mikey Larkin took the Most Laps Led Award of the evening after leading twenty-six of the seventy-five laps completed around the 2-mile oval. The highly competitive race saw fifteen lead changes for eight laps and featured thirteen of the fifteen starters on the track at the end of the event. Pole sitter Joe Bishop led eleven laps early in the event before eventually finishing in the eleventh spot. Ron Larkin Jr. gained eight spots to take away the Hard Charger Award.
