Cale Simmons avoids the mess for the win at Talladega

Talladega is never an easy track to run – especially when you have four trucks piling up behind you, all wanting a claim at the race. With five trucks finishing with .16 seconds of each other, winning the first Multi League Fun Race lived up to its name! Cale Simmons, driving the #81 Duke Blue Devils Chevrolet, piloted his truck out in front with two laps to go, and held on with four trucks ramming into each other, all looking for the second place position. Southern Racing Online’s Justin Wilson claimed that position, crossing the finish line with his left side tires off the ground! MNT’s Daryl Brown, driving the #64 truck, came across the line in third, one-hundredth of a second behind Wilson. The 54-lap race saw 19 of the 21 drivers complete all the laps, with 11 drivers combining for a total of 16 lead changes. Only 5 yellow flags came out due to incident, speaking to the high level of skill and mutual respect the drivers have for each other.

The Multi League Fun Race was the product of Ron Larkin, Sr., who organized the race between five of the most popular leagues on RLMtv: Southern Racing Online, Maniac Racing, Green Flag Racing, MNT Racing (represented by Daryl Brown), and the former MRL Racing League. Maniac Racing and Green Flag racing will return to the track on Tuesday, November 30 for the 8th annual running of their rivalry race, the Maniac Racing – Green Flag Racing 250 at Daytona International Speedway, racing in the Camping World Trucks.
